Nom nom nom FROZEN CUSTARD!! We used to get frozen custard all the time when we lived in Tulsa but hadn't found a place with the REAL stuff here in Jax. We went to Rita's once and tried theirs but that is NOT real custard! Real custard has a very specific consistency, it's thick and smooth and heavenly. We tried this place this past Sunday, I forget the names of the flavors but hubs got the one with chocolate and caramel and peanuts and I got the mocha irish cream coffee-ish one? I didn't taste Adam's but he enjoyed it and mine was delicious! It kind of reminded me of a Jamocha shake, but stronger irish creamyness and of course with that fabulous custard consistency! The guy and gal working the counter were very friendly and helpful and gave us a taste of their flavor of the day, birthday cake! We will be back!

Better than Rita's. The vanilla custard was delicious, but they have a new flavor each day. The people were very friendly.

These friendly chaps sure know how to make a good custard. We went with the special that day which was red velvet brownie. It was delicious. Two scoops in a cup was more than enough to share. Just be sure to watch your step as you walk through the door.

Its a great custard place. They offer vanilla, chocolate or custard of the week/day and also all different kind of specialty ice cream in a cup. Tastes much better than chain custard places.

Delicious! Extremely friendly staff. Doesn't have much seating. More like come in and go. They have different specials everyday. We had the red velvet cake special. My whole family devoured it.

Just sat down outsides Whit's with our frozen custard, we are very pleased! The custard is excellent, the portions are plenty, and the price fair. Most of all the employees were very nice, enthusiastic, and glad to help out. We even got a shirt for just $10. We'll be back!

Great frozen custard I'm from St. Louis and it reminds me of Ted Drewes. The staff is very friendly and promote the products with taste samples as soon as you walk in. A great treat after dinner.

My parents just moved to jacksonville and so I looked up best ice cream spots and came across this little gem in Neptune beach. Hard to find parking and long line to get in and get your order in but worth it:) they have custard- vanilla and chocolate and you can get mix ins to a flavor and then on top of that they have their own flavors you can pick from. Worth the wait.

The employees were so nice! I originally tried Whit's at the Moonbeam Bash and while I was at the beach I just had to have more! We were given a sample of the flavor of the day - buckeye - and it was so delicious that I went ahead and bought a scoop in a cone! Massive cone - one scoop was definitely enough - and the cone was dipped and covered in sprinkles. Really not a bad price and it was so good I'm trying to figure out when I can go back.

This was an excellent find and a hearty helping of "tiny store, big flavor" and a real find on YELP. So after my son's birthday dinner at Poe's (his favorite) we trudged over with a party of ten to try Whit's. After figuring out the counter service requirements, we then began to study the whiteboard menu and choose our options. (Danger Spoiler Ahead) However, know this, whatever you get will be fabulous, especially anything with chocolate and caramel. But try an option, go back next week and try another and on your third visit you will realize there is still a lot of options to try. One other warning, portions are big, so order one size less than you think you want and you will be well satisfied.

On a hot summer day after the beach, frozen custard resonates with all of our desires. Whit's, merely a few hundred feet West of the last drops of sand, is a destination spot you must try your hand at. Here you'll find the most happy go lucky man you'll ever encounter behind a counter. Not sure if he's a manager or not, but as far as service goes, he's the the cream of the crop. And this only heightens the experience. Custard wise, this stuff is abundantly creamy and smooth. They have a wide variety of assorted concoctions, but feel free to customize your own if you desire. I indulged in a peanut butter cup that felt stacked to the ceiling in portion size. Thanks Whit's!

A nice little place at the end of the Atlantic on Ocean drive. Just when you thought you'd hydrated yourself with all the bottles of water/drinks you carried to the beach, the sight of Whit's engenders an uneasy dryness in your mouth and any resistance to avoid is futile. They do sell by scoop and all the way up to pint or even more. Lots of flavors to choose from and each day has a special flavor or flavors. The employees are young and nice; let you even taste and help decide to choose the flavor. I tried the old fashioned chocolate and it was as good as it gets. They do have outdoor seating which is nice but can be pretty crowded. If you are in the Atlantic beach and not drinking then you must not let this one pass.

I love Whits, a lot!! This might be my most favorite place ever. I eat the frozen custard at whits at least once a week, which is probably not good for my weight but it's a chance I'm willing to take.... They're conveniently located in the Atlantic Beach town center so it's a great place to walk or ride a bike to. The place is small and there is always a line going out the door, that is because their frozen custard never disappoints! The staff is alway fun and helpful. I can't wait to go tonight!!

Need a sweet treat after a day at the beach? Look no further than Whit's frozen custard in Atlantic Beach! Tucked in between Atlantic BLVD and Ahern St on Ocean BLVD, Whit's is a frozen custard lover's dream. They have a new flavor of the day each day, as well as their tried and true menu. The flavor of the day is usually a mix-in style flavor, like today's cookie dough. The past few times I've gotten their waffle cone with two scoops of custard. They are very generous with their scoops - you won't be disappointed. It's about $4-5/ cone for two scoops, which is in line with most premium ice cream shops (I've had Ben and Jerry's and Kilwin's, and they can get up to $8/cone). They also offer ice cream cakes (frozen custard, though), to go pints/quarts, frozen custard cookie sandwiches, and a few others. Sometime I will get one of their caked - they are so tempting! The staff have always been welcoming and helpful. As you may have seen in my tips, they welcome dogs on their patio and have a dog bowl for water if you ask. The outside space isn't very large, with a table for two, a table for 6-ish, and a public bench along the walk, but it is usually sufficient as most guests are just in and out once they get their confections. I'm glad this place opened last year - I can see us coming again, and again, and again!

Reminded me of our Milwaukee Frozen custard stores up north in VA even down to the font on the signage. This is a good thing though as it tastes just as yummy. My daughter and I both picked their flavor of the day, German Chocolate Cake, offered in addition to the standard chocolate and vanilla. The staff behind the counter were very friendly and helped us with our selection. They have a huge menu on the wall of flavors and doodads to add to your treat. We opted to stay old school and just get a scoop in a cake cone. I suggest getting a kids cone though as a small scoop is probably too much for most people. Only complaint is the dire parking situation in the area. I see why there are so many bike riders as it is mission impossible to find a parking spot on a weekend night.

I really enjoyed the Custard here, but it's definitely on the rich side. I opted for the Coffee Custard, which was good, but it started to get a little bit too sweet towards the end. Still, it was a good experience.

Delicious custard. Smooth and creamy but not too, too sweet. Customizable mix-ins make it a great stop so everyone can get exactly what they want.

New to the area, we stopped for ice cream and were disappointed to find only one flavor daily. We had the maple, which wasn't anything special.

This place has been opened for about a month now & I happened to find out about it from my neighbor. Whit's originally started in Ohio and found its way down to Jacksonville Beach. And what is fabulous is that their frozen custard is made fresh daily, right in their stores! What's cool about this place is they offer flavor updates for the WEEK and the DAY such as their Almond Joy, Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch, Buckeye, Black Raspberry Chip, Mint Chocolate Chip, Lemon, Sea Salt Caramel, Butter Pecan, Caramel Brownie, and you can even create your own with tons of options for toppings! Prices aren't bad either. I paid about $4 for a double cup. You can see other items here: whitscustard.com/monthly… In addition, they have custard cakes on hand for any special occasion and pints or quarts of frozen custard to-go in their take home freezer! With over 200 amazing custard flavors and that cold, sweet silky feel, I know I will be coming back for more.....much more! Delish! 5 STARS!

Wonderful! The employees are full of energy and nice. They give you a sample of the flavor of the day right when you walk in. The custard is so creamy and delicious! The flavors are unique and the whister which is a mixture of certain toppings together is so good. This custard really hits the spot! Great place!

We only found this place because a couple on the beach sat by us eating ice cream and told us how great it was. Not even on our radar but we say what the heck checked it out and wow... I will now be one of those people that drive to the beach just for ice cream. Highly recommended if you have a sweet tooth We got a small and I had to throw half out because the portion size a plenty for the price they are definitely doing it right!

Amazing service they are very generous with the toppings, and above all else the there flavor of the day was always exceptional and different then any other place you'll visit! I will definitely come back!

I finally got to try Whit's last night after dinner. They only had vanilla and pineapple upside down cake flavors left, so I choose vanilla in a cup. It was very good! It wasn't as heavy as I thought it was going to be. I would love to return to try more flavors.

The past couple weeks I've had a hankering for ice cream. Near insatiable. It made me realize there's no good ice cream at jax beach! Froyo for days, but none of the real good stuff! That was until I found out about Whit's. Now it's been explained to me that custard is pretty much like ice cream, just made differently. Close enough for me! This place is killer. I've had the black raspberry chocolate and the Mud Pie, which is mocha custard with caramel and crushed cookies 'n cream. Both were as decadent as I could of hoped for and hit the spot froyo couldn't scratch. They seem to do a daily rotation of flavors so it's wise to check the website first. They also offer a variety of flavors in pints that you can purchase at any time. Thanks for being a shining light in an otherwise dark, bleak, ice cream-less city.

Whit's is an awesome little custard place tucked away behind RagTime in Neptune Beach. They don't have ice cream or fro-yo or anything else, just the good stuff. Custard is basically just like ice cream, but they use egg yolks as an emulsifier which creates a much creamier texture. Whit's has a flavor of the day and a flavor of the week, as well as normal vanilla and chocolate flavors used as bases for their other creations. I can honestly say I haven't had a bad flavor here. If you aren't feeling the flavor of the day, they have a large freezer on the left wall with take-home containers of all of the previous flavor combos. They come in pints and quarts. You can get custard as-is in a cone or cup, or they are more than happy to whip up a number of combinations. They make cups with all kinds of toppings, as well as sundaes and blizzard-like blended desserts. It is right next door to Joseph's pizza if you know the neighborhood. Parking sucks, but you can usually find something if you drive around long enough. If you are looking for something to cool down on a hot day at the beach, Whit's can't be beat.
